You deal the best way you can. I think this is the reason I feel like hurling bricks through monitors whenever I see a weblogger announce a site that has just gone public and a bunch of college kids think they can be witty and clever by running their sites through a bunch of validation sites and leaving the results in a comment. 'Ha ha,' they seem to mock. 'My personal weblog is perfectly validated, with no warnings or errors! Therefore, I am better than you.'

To which I say, "Shut up, you have a LiveJournal."

little. yellow. different.

I've been using the HV Menu for DHTML drop-down menus. Here are a couple others that I want to try: Drop-Down Menus, Horizontal Style and Suckerfish Dropdowns, both at A List Apart.

How to create a favicon image on a Mac: Favicon Creation with GraphicConverter. That's creating on a Mac, not using on a Mac. They're only visible on Windows machines, in IE, so don't drive yourself crazy thinking it isn't working. Don't know what a favicon is? Then you probably don't need one. But if you're curious, read this.

Here's a clever little free icon maker that could be used to create avatars for bulletin boards: Abi-Station. Here's one of me from the Portrait Illustration Maker:

and one from the Portrait Icon Maker:

This is pretty cool: WhatTheFont at MyFonts.com allows you to upload a digital image of type, and it tells you what the typeface is. How many times have you been presented with a printed brochure by a client, and had to match the font, but didn't know what it was? The site gives you a few to choose from, and prints out their choices so you can see if any of them match exactly.

I love this site: Lorem Ipsum. It's very simple, just a dummy text generator, but I use it all the time to generate "greeked" text to insert into website mockups.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Proin imperdiet lorem sed purus. Donec tincidunt mattis ante. Praesent ut diam. Morbi congue lacinia nulla. Duis wisi diam, bibendum vitae, vestibulum sed, viverra quis, lacus. Nulla facilisi. Ut aliquam neque ut libero. Maecenas faucibus diam ac lorem. Maecenas dapibus. Aliquam mi.

Like that. :)
