I wanted to make a list of the URLS for all of my favorite Palm apps, and thought I might as well share them with everyone. This page will be updated periodically. As of sometime this summer, my PDA is a Palm Zire 31. I retired the Handspring Visor Prism when Bob made the remark that if I was going to have an electronic organizer, it would make a lot more sense if I actually carried it with me. The Visor was too bulky and heavy, so I ended up leaving it at home a lot of the time. The Zire is both smaller and lighter, plus has twice the memory capacity.
Bejeweled!: The Palm
version of the popular online game.
Bonsai: An outliner to keep track of multiple
projects. I haven't spent
a lot of time with this, so I haven't totally figured out all the possibilities.
BookBag: I keep track of all the books I read or
want to read, and if I've checked them
out of the library, I can sort them by due date.
BugMe!: I don't really use the alarm features,
but I do like it as a "scratchpad" and
doodling tool. I go back and forth with it--if I'm running short of space, I'll sometimes delete it, but I
always seem to eventually put it back
on.
CityTime: Shows the time in four cities of user's
choice, plus world map.
Converter: A
fairly cool freeware converter with TONS of unit types and categories.
Count Six: Configurable timers that count up when you tap the screen. I
use it to record how many glasses of water I drink in a day.
CountAble: Configurable counters to keep track of
knitting rows and stitches.
Currency: A simple currency converter.
DateBook5: Replacement for the standard
Palm datebook. Allows color-coding and use of third-party icons.
DayNotez: A daily journal program. I
keep my dreams here, and my food journal, and notes about things that I don't want to forget.
One of my favorite applications.
DBIcon+: Icon editor for DateBook5 icons.
FemDays: A program to keep track of menstrual
cycles; basically, I bought it for the
facility of having a little red heart appear on the calendar denoting having had sex that day. :)
Gulliver: An application
to keep track of travel plans--hotel, air, and rental cars.
HoliDates: Inserts dates of holidays
into your Datebook so you don't have to enter
them manually.
jMileage: Every
time I get gas, I enter it here so I can keep track of my gas mileage.
Khroma: Allows you to
change the default colors of the Palm OS to anything you like. I'd
love to have a more full-featured launcher and be able to change icons, etc., but they're mostly too complicated and
too large in file size for what they do. This one allows me to do some customization.
KnitAble: Knitting databse program
to keep track of yarn stash, knitting needles, projects,
knitting books, etc.
Lunar: Shows moon phases and other information about
the moon. Allows you to automatically add the moon phases to Datebook.
Marathon: Made for, obviously, marathon
runners, I'm using it to track workouts, miles
walked, weight, pulse rate, etc.
Memo Plus: Replacement for standard
Palm Memopad. Allows you to add drawings to memos, and adds various sorting options.
MoonPhase: Shows the phases of the moon.
multiClock: A multi-function alarm clock.
My
Medical Records: Keeps information regarding prescriptions, doctor visits, etc.
Owner: A little program that just pulls up the
"Owner" info from the Preferences and
makes it a little more visible in case you lose your PDA.
Palm Bio: Shows biorythms for you and whoever
else you like to keep track of.
PalmReader, plus
something to read on it, usually ebooks from Fictionwise
or Peanut Press.
Slap: Just a quick place to write down information without
bothering to format it, then Slap can format it and insert it into the application you specify, i.e., Contacts, Datebook, etc.
SolFree: Solitaire game.
SplashID: A password-protected place to
keep more passwords, account numbers, etc.
SplashMoney: I got a good deal on this when I bought a SplashData package,
so now I use this for my checking account records.
SplashShopper: Not just for shopping -- I also keep lists like
my Christmas list (who I'm shopping for, what I've bought, etc.), books I want to read, vacation packing lists,
etc.)
TikTok: Configurable timers; I use this to keep
track of time worked on various projects.
TipCalc: A tiny freeware program
that calculates restaurant tips based on percentage.
TipTop: Another Astraware
game.
Wordful: Word search game with
lots of word lists.
WordSmith: I can create documents
in MS Word, save them in .rtf format, then transfer them
to my Palm, where they can be edited if necessary.
