I found a wonderful poem last night by Margaret Atwood--"SEKHMET, THE LION-HEADED GODDESS OF WAR, VIOLENT STORMS, PESTILENCE, AND RECOVERY FROM ILLNESS, CONTEMPLATES THE DESERT IN THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART."

It's beginning to look like this is going to be another journal entry that won't get uploaded until the following day, if then, because I haven't been able to get through to my ISP today. I do have to tell a story about them: They've obviously been having trouble for a week or so, but I figured they were aware of the problems and I didn't bother them, even though it was extremely frustrating. But when I would get in, there would be a message on the sign on screen that if you were having "any problems at all," to please let them know, otherwise they would assume everything was okay. So after a few days, I wrote a note to the sys op just detailing the kinds of problems I had been having. I got back this really crabby message that basically said, "There are only so many hours in the day, and so many hands to do the work, just have a little patience." In spite of my annoyance, I had to laugh. I mean, they did ask. Now they've got this really long message about how their modems were recalled, and they ordered new ones, and the new ones were defective, and they're really, really trying to get everything working, and they'll give us free time, and to please, please be patient.

In further goddess research, Z. Budapest's book The Goddess in the Office gives a runescript for protecting your computer from breaking down. She advises writing the following runes on the computer screen with your finger:

. . . if it's selfless love you're looking for, you've got the wrong goddess.
